CHABAD. Chabad-Lubavitch is one of the largest Hasidic groups in orthodox judaism. Its headquarters are located in Brooklyn, New York City. Chabad is an acronym for Chochmah, Binah and Da'at.

The movement was founded by Shneur Zalman of Liadi in the late 18th century, and has had seven rebbes since its founding, the last being Menachem Mendel Schneerson (April 18, 1902 - June 12, 1994) but has since 1994 not had a formal rebbe.

The group has over 200,000 adherents worldwide, and up to a million jews attend their activities every year.

The group is famous for its community centers, outreach programs and other activities, attempting to bring secular jews to a more religious lifestyle through education and positive rolemodeling.
