How is this Jewish-resources website different from all others?

There are many agendas, ideologies and interests in the Jewish world. This website, however, does not represent any one in particular. The only guiding principle for what is included herein is the welfare of all Jews--physical, cultural, spiritual and so on. It offers Jewish knowledge through an open-forum anyone is welcome to contribute to. It offers a guide to Jewish life arranged by states and cities. It offers up-to-the-minute Jewish news and articles from around the world. And it continues to expand day-by-day, as a joint-effort to inform and entertain, instruct and enlighten.

We want all Jews to feel at home when they visit this site. We also want all non-Jews who have a positive interest in things Jewish to feel at home. We wish to learn from everyone, and to be of use to everyone. Never before in the history of the world has information been so readily available to everyone. The purpose of this website is to channel this information in positive ways to keep enhancing Jewish life and the common good.

So, the question has come up, why have this Wiki on Judaism, a topic which already has many good articles on Wikipedia? In addition, some people have copied (or suggested copying) content from Wikipedia to here.

Wikipedia is a good source, but there's no point in having a Wiki that's just a copy of a sub-set of the Wikipedia. As a Wiki, this site does not have to stick to a neutral point of view (NPOV), so personal experiences, like favorite heros, holidays or stories would be appropriate. In addition, other things like traditional family recipes (or links to recipes on other sites) could be posted.

Of course, when the need arises to verify information, Wikipedia is a good source, HOWEVER this is Not a Wikipedia mirror site. If all we did was copy the articles from Wikipedia, there would be no point in having an individual wiki.
